I try not to get too comfortable with any one scenario of finances because, when I do, I swear I hear some higher power chuckling.
That said, it’s looking more and more likely that Tim and I will be out of credit card debt by June. The last student loan can then be knocked out pretty quickly, too.
After that, Tim and I will be adjusting to life without debt. It’s a wonderful, if strange, idea.
Then I realize how many other things need to get started on, and I start to get panicked and dizzy. I don’t want to go into great detail. I’ll save that for another post. But suffice to say there are a lot of things on the to-do list, not the least of which are IRA contributions, an emergency fund, and some pet-related expenses.
Then there’s the minor fact that we would like to celebrate by actually giving ourselves a little spending money. Imagine!
All these are competing for my attention just now, but I’m curious to hear about other people’s priorities. So riddle me this, folks:
What is the first thing you’ll save for once you’re finally out of debt? Are you planning on celebrating?

My husband saw "post-debt" and started chuckling hysterically. I think I'm a little crushed. "Eventually" (as he said), I think our first post-debt goal would be to lighten up the purse strings a bit, expand the food budget, then probably save up for upgraded vehicles (and by that I mean used cars with low miles), and then a house. And possibly a chuckle filter for DH.

Ooooh wait. #1 is upgrading our apartment to one with a washer/dryer in unit. No more schlepping up the stairs for us!

Congrats on being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel!!
It will be a matter of years for me, not months…so I think it’ll matter most what else is going on in my life at that point in time – can you tell, the light is nowhere in sight for me, LOL
