I’m going to BlogHer. And I have only a vague idea how that happened.
Essentially, I sort of accidentally found someone who was willing to sponsor me. Accidentally in that we were chatting about how I wanted to go next year for sure. Then I was told the person’s company would sponsor me if I chose to go — this year or next.
So I checked the Ticket Swap site for a whopping four days and found someone who was selling. I called up the Hilton, where the conference is being held, and somehow there was still a room left with the conference pricing. I’ll be booking my ticket tomorrow.
This is all very surreal and yet there’s a little squealing person in my head jumping up and down, singing, “We’re going to New Yo-ork! We’re going to New Yo-ork!” She’s very high-pitched and annoying, in case anyone is wondering. But she’s right.
So I have just over two months before I’ll be on the other side of the country — hopefully with enough time to at least have dinner with my friend Karl and get to see his not-so-new-at-this-point baby. Not so new, as in: She’s well into toddlerhood at this point.
Tim’s never been to New York, so we’re probably going to buy him a ticket, too. While we won’t get to spend a lot of quality time together, at least he’ll be able to wander a bit and see the sights.
So, is anyone else going? I’d love to rendezvous!

I'm going and am so excited. How great that you found a sponsor! My sister and brother are joining me because my husband didn't want to go. I hope to meet you there.
