Well, it’s officially summer. I know because I have sustained four mosquito bites on my legs, all of which decided to swell up. It was threatening to be another incident ala last summer wherein I ended up in the ER at night for the pain and swelling.
Now we know some countermeasures, though. (That’s probably the only good thing about going to an ER is you have a LOT of time to think about how to avoid it the next time around.) I took some Benadryl, rubbed steroid cream on it and tried to keep my leg elevated whenever possible.
Other than a Benadryl-induced haze from which I’m only now emerging, it’s done well. The damn things still itch, but not to distraction. And they’re not threatening to stake a claim for king and country over the rest of my body.
I guess from now on, I need to start spraying myself down with Cutters after each shower. On the bright side, when you’re in and out of consciousness from Benadryl, you eat less…
I’m off to enjoy a clear head, however briefly, and reapply steroid cream.
