Frugal folks know that prevention is a helluva lot cheaper than repair. Unfortunately, sometimes we’re so busy trying not to spend money that… well… things implode.
I just got off the phone with my dentist. The crown plus post will be $540. Add that to the $325 we paid for the root canal, and you have $865. All because I wanted to avoid a $200 filling for a bit until our finances settled down.
I don’t know if I’m just finally settling in here, or if it’s the new medication management and therapy regime. But I’m slowly accepting that I cannot avoid costs. Putting things off only costs us more in the long run.
That said, I still vow to replace the next faucet all by myself.
In the meantime, I’m still mainly chewing with the left side of my mouth until the crown gets put on.
And, to make me feel better, please feel free to regale me with stories of costs that stacked up while you procrastinated.
