The main bathroom in our house is pretty blah. We have a nice new bathroom faucet, courtesy of the fact that the old one dripped steadily and had to be replaced.
But there’s really no color anywhere in the room. What’s worse, the bathroom cabinet looked drab. It was painted white, but it was a little dingy. Also, there were small spots where the paint had chipped away and bare wood was showing.
Like I said: blah.
So I took a walk up to Home Depot, since Tim had the car. It meant I got a two-mile walk, which was good anyway.
For $18.81, I got a quart of Glidden paint, masking tape and a sanding block to rough up the glossy paint already on the cabinet. Then I set up the iPad and watched Netflix while I worked.
Even with two coats (plus touch-ups) and taping twice, the entire project took maybe four hours altogether.
Meanwhile, I still have plenty of paint leftover for another project or two. Tim’s dresser is looking pretty shabby, so it may get improved with some sleek, black paint. Then, the only cost would be new handles.
What kinds of frugal improvements have you guys done?
