Tim and I are relatively spoiled. Neither of us has had to drive to work for over six years.
Recently, Tim did pitch in a bit at a local shop. The idea was they’d hire him as soon as things got settled. That didn’t work out, and even so it was only four miles away.
Now he’s up for a job that’s 25 miles away. That’s 50 miles on the car each day!
I know that’s relatively standard for some people. Then again, our car has 88,000 miles on it and I’m not anxious to pile on the miles. Then again, a car is made for getting people around.
Some days, he’d probably be able to take the light rail. It’s an eight-mile drive to the Park ‘N Ride, but that’s still significantly better.
The problem is that the light rail stops running at 11:15 p.m. Monday-Thursday. If there’s a tournament on the night he’s working, it may not be over by then.
So, I’m curious how many miles you guys drive to work.

My commute is 17ish miles each way. But I only drive about 2 to a park and ride and then take public transit.

Wow, that’s a lot. A whole lot. And, yeah, given not just gas but wear and tear on your car… “Extra pay” doesn’t quite cover it, does it?

25 nasty, traffic-filled miles. Takes up to an hour. But I can't complain. It took me 3 years to find a full time job and this is a good one.

I guess there’s always trade-offs, but loving your job definitely helps!
