My brain is in vacation mode today. It doesn’t want to do anything or have me go anywhere.
I don’t know if it’s the deluge of emails, the fact that I’m fighting a cold or maybe that I went to bed around 12:30 a.m. (because it was the weekend) but Patches woke us up at 8:30. That’s the equivalent for me of about 5-6 hours’ sleep for regular people. Enough to get by, but you’re not happy about it.
So I don’t have much to report. I’ve been incredibly grumpy, despite the email load actually getting a little lighter towards the end of the week. So when my work day ends, I just want to chill out and watch TV with Tim. Hence the silence this week.
I got the blood test done on Monday, so I’m going to call the doctor’s office on Tuesday to see if the results are back.
If the results are the same this time, I’ll find out what, if any, specialist I need to see. If not, I have to decide if I want to try at least one more time. I probably do, but I’d feel a lot better if there were something concrete(ish) to point to.
That’s the fun thing about reproductive medicine: You’ll never know whether the treatment worked or you just got lucky and that embryo thrived. So yeah, here’s hoping my blood is abnormal.
I’m going to call on Tuesday to get some contractors out here for bids. We have to close up the gap in fencing, and I want to see what this place would charge to install the HVAC in the guest house. A small part of me is hoping that the contractor will look inside and say, “Why, you can just put in a wall unit and save thousands!” and chuckle at my expression.
But that’s almost definitely not the case, and we’re looking at around 3,600. The good news is that I’ve been socking away money each month. So we’ll have around $1,200 of that in the bank when the time comes.
I’ve also started allotting myself some fun money. It’s nice to have something that I can spend without feeling guilty.
Speaking of fun money, Tim’s found a great way to conserve his. He loves graphic novels, but the cost adds up quickly, not to mention the space to store the books.
So he found some YouTube channels that review various story lines: Comicstorian, Marvel Explained and DC Explained. He gets the various sagas explained. If a story seems really compelling, he invests the money to get the book. Otherwise, he can just tuck away the knowledge and move on without spending a cent. It’s really quite clever.
Anyway, that’s about all to report.
Did you guys do anything interesting this week? Or did you have a sluggish week too?
