Tuesday was a very productive day. I not only worked but also:
* Set up a consultation appt with an oral surgeon for Tim
* Went for a blood draw to run a test the third time
* Emailed my CPA to set up an appointment for my business taxes
* Contacted a company so I can send back a phone I was trying out
* Called to set up an appt to get a guy to clean up our yard.
Alas, Wednesday came to something of a screeching halt midway through the day.
I managed to confirm that some tweaks can be made to the new theme for my blog (which will probably happen this weekend). I confirmed an appointment with the CPA. And I even went through the hassle of a tax correction form because I found out I underreported income on my fourth quarter FICA taxes.
Annoying, but not a huge deal. In fact, I was downright proud of myself for taking it (and the additional $600 owed) so calmly.
The bigger wrinkle was that I had, of course, already submitted my W-2 form to the Social Security Administration. So I went back to the site to correct it.
Instead, I managed to accidentally unsubscribe to the service that lets me report online. I undid it immediately, but it’s still going to make me activate the service like it’s the first time.
Which means they’ll mail me a code. Which could take up to two weeks. Which means I can’t get my business taxes done yet. My CPA is kind of finicky about having forms with the right numbers in them. Go figure.
Then I got a nasty eye strain headache because of the old prescription on the glasses I’m wearing. Tim had to give me a head rub because I was actually whimpering.
We called the Lenscrafters by us, but they’re still waiting on the new machine. The one that was supposed to arrive Tuesday. Naturally.
If the machine and/or my contacts aren’t ready by Friday, we’ll go to the one across town. We were waiting for some deliveries that require signatures, so we couldn’t go Wednesday.
Still haven’t heard back from the yard guy. If I don’t hear back by the end of day Thursday, I’m hiring a professional company. A little more expensive for the cleanup, but they also offer pre-emergent spray that should last around nine months.
So actually, I’m not sure why I’m not going with them in the first place. Food for thought. Assuming my brain isn’t screaming from another eye strain headache. She said, focusing on a computer screen to write a blog post.
The fencing guy has put in an order for the gates. Once they’re ready, he’ll install those. The fan project — one installed, one replaced — will take place today and Friday.
Then my mom comes into town on Monday. To which I say yay.
But before that, at some point this weekend — once the fans are done, the blog theme has been purchased/tweaked/installed, the yard service is scheduled, and I have the right prescription for my glasses and/or contacts — I’m going to settle in for a nice primal scream.

This too, shall pass. Hopefully NOT like a kidney stone. Hang in there. By this time next week you'll be enjoying time with your mom, meeting up with a few readers…

Yep, I'll just keep repeating that to myself.
Unfortunately, it looks like my taxes are even more messed up than I thought so…

I always think January and February are going to be quiet months, but they never are…..between annual medical, eye and dental exams, taxes, financial aid for college kids, plus all the house projects I save for the cold winter months – ha ha – it's busier than ever.
Hang in there!
Abigail says
Yeah, I just keep telling myself that after I get this stuff squared away, the only thing I need to worry about (for now, anyway) is getting a quote on the HVAC for the guest house. "Only."

I send you the best pillow in all the land to scream into. It seemed like you were just knocking it out of the park, damn these wrinkles!

Indeed! I finally figured out where I went wrong with the underreporting. My CPA suggested I call SSA to see if they can get me back into the system quicker.
The problem now being that I didn't put aside any taxes from my January check because I thought I'd taken care of those when I wrote out my various FICA and income tax checks. Blech.
I'll get caught up. I at least got in touch with a yard guy. He's going to try to come out Saturday, but at worst next Saturday. So at least that's another thing (kinda) checked off my list.

I commend you for getting it done! Ive put almost everything I need to do at home on the back burner. I literally have clothes at home that are washed on the ground that needed to be folded. I took off my sheet to wash it and slept with it off the bed last night. It took about 4 days for me to empty the trash after I kept reminding myself to do it. I keep saying I need to just clean my room but I don't want to do it. I also need to make several phone calls. yea,,,,,,,lol

Oh, I've had those times too. It's an up and down cycle, I'm afraid.
The good news is that I was able to get into the SSA filing system and correct my W-2s, so I think I'm nearing the finish line on that one.
The bad news is that I think I'm catching that nasty cold that's been going around.
Donna Freedman says
Don't catch the cold! It's a really bad one. Still coughing, myself, but taking decongestants every four hours so I can get on the plane at 1 a.m. Monday.

Well, Abby, if it ain't one thing, it's a big d@mn bunch of 'em. Hang in there, your mom's on her way!
