I have a more substantive post running tomorrow (more on that in a moment). But I thought I’d give you guys a quick account of everything going on.
First, Matt: Marc’s leaving for Indiana today. As best I can tell from Marc’s sometimes strange/vague wording, Matt is awake, off the feeding tube/ventilator and being moved out of ICU. So that’s a relief for Tim’s parents. We’re still neutral other than worrying about their worry.
Second, tires. Tim told me three weeks ago that the mechanic suggested new tires soon. Then… I dunno, I guess something shiny got in my line of sight.
Monday afternoon he came home from a grocery store run declaring that he wouldn’t be driving any more… unless it was to get new tires. At least one of them was starting to shred/flake badly on the sides.
So he dropped off the car at Sears, and we should have four shiny new tires by tomorrow afternoon. Maybe sooner. I don’t love a $543 charge, but I suppose it could be worse. [Edit: It got slightly worse. Tim had them check the brakes, and apparently the pads were almost completely gone. But it was only $140 more, so we just had Sears do it rather than take it to our mechanic separately.]
Third, other finances are okay. Things have been quiet around here financially. It’s too hot to go out unless really necessary, which means life is pretty affordable.
Poor Tim is going stir-crazy, but I’m not interested in doing much. I did offer to use some movie passes for Independence Day Resurgence but… then we saw the reviews. So no. If we get too desperate, we can always go make fun of Mr. Bay’s second Ninja Turtle travesty.
Fourth, Frugality for Depressives: Thanks to Holly’s piece on The Simple Dollar, I’ve sold nine books! Woot!
And on Wednesday I’ll finally get a payout from Amazon/CreateSpace. Meaning I’ll have officially made my money back — as in, it’ll actually be back in our bank account. Yay!
Thanks to everyone who has bought a copy. And if you haven’t already, please please please consider leaving a review on Amazon. You don’t have to buy it through Amazon to leave a review there.
And finally, tomorrow’s post: It might be a little more… perky and glossy than normal. It’s for a contest (up to $1,500 reimbursement of FinCon expenses), and it had to be short. Plus it’s probably a slightly different cross-section of readers.
Don’t get me wrong, I believe everything in it, but lest you read it and fear I’ve fallen into a vat of technicolor, inspirational pixie dust… Nope.
Hopefully, you guys enjoy the post despite the slightly different tone.
What’s going on with you guys? Anyone want to come over and help with actual housekeeping?
