Unfortunately, the new eye exam did not get me back into contacts. The doctor says that the changes I’m seeing (har har) are due to my corneas reshaping without the contacts.
So it’s not that I have double vision. It’s just that my vision is changing/healing a bit. Or something. Point being, I’m still out of contact lenses til March 3rd. But I do have the pleasure of filling a new glasses prescription, six weeks after getting my last pair.
Just getting new lenses is going to be around $200 (with discount) at Lens Crafters. So I’m casting about for other ideas.
I’m going to see if the last place I went still has the $70 clearance frames/lenses offer (and whether any of the frames are aesthetically pleasing).
But failing that, I was looking at 39DollarGlasses.com. They’d be around $59 because my prescription is so bad. Tim, however, thinks it’s a terrible idea.
You can check all the measurements of the glasses, so I could make sure they’re pretty much exactly the same as my current frames, which I actually like.
On the other hand, my prescription is so bad that the regular lenses would be super thick (according to Lens Crafters woman), and a slight upgrade to slimmer lenses is advised/practically necessary. And I’m not sure whether $59 includes any such thing.
So… Has anyone tried this site? I feel like someone recently said she had (JohnJaneDoe?). If you have tried it, please let me know if you have particularly terrible eyesight and how bad their lenses looked in the frames.
