I love Swagbucks and I love being cable-free, so this offer was too good not to blog about!
As long-time readers know, we cut the cord about three years ago. And it’s saved us oodles. How much is an oodle, you ask? So far, we’re up to $3,682. (And that’s not an abstract number. Since we save our savings, that exact dollar amount was funneled into our savings account.)
Of course, I’m proud of that number. Super proud, obviously, or I wouldn’t have worked that not-so-humble brag into this post. But you can do even better.
Because right now new (and certain returning) customers can come away with $12 by signing up with Hulu.
Swagbucks is offering 2,000 points called SB if you join Hulu for one month. Since one month’s subscription is $7.99, that’s a $12 profit!*
Even if you aren’t interested in cutting the cord, you should use this offer.
I mean… You make $12 with a sign-up that takes less than five minutes, and a cancellation that requires literally one click in the My Account section. (Well, probably two since they’ll ask “Are you sure?”)
Just sign up and set yourself a couple of calendar reminders to cancel.**
That said, I think you might be pleasantly surprised by just how many shows Hulu has. Between that and Netflix, Tim and I only lost three shows that we watch regularly.
Yes, it can suck to wait a year for Netflix to get the next season up. But not enough to outweigh $1,104 of savings each year.
My advice is always to make a list of the shows you watch regularly. Then check out Hulu and Netflix (or Amazon Prime) and see how many are covered. Most people can get just about their entire entertainment lineup even after they cut the cord.***
And even if you do bail before the second month gets charged, the point is that you’ve made a profit.
It should take you five minutes (probably closer to three) to sign up, and one or two minutes to cancel. For $12. That’s pretty good money, if you ask me. And since you’re reading this blog, you kinda did.
Are you thinking of cutting the cord? Do you already use Hulu?
*Actually, since your first $25 GC of the month is only 2,250 SB, you’re up the equivalent of $14.23. I mean, if you want to nitpick. Which I do.
**Wait at least nine days. Apparently, Hulu can revoke the SB if you cancel within eight days of signing up.
