Slowly but surely, we’d built our EF up to $680… And then we took the car into the shop.
The A/C hasn’t worked for awhile. I thought it was just low on the freon-type stuff. But apparently the compressor is defunct. A new compressor, the installation, a flush of the system (to make sure another part is okay) and the actual cost of the diagnostic machine will come to $1,050.
I know that’s what emergency funds are for but… Damn.
I actually waffled about getting it fixed. It’s not technically a necessity. But the days are starting to be at least 100. They’ll go as high as 112 or 115. So I guess it IS technically necessary.
Combined with the $300 electric bill I got today, it’s just been a nerve-wracking day. Or budget-wracking anyway.
We’re going to ask Tim’s parents for half of the electric bill and 1/3 of everything else. That should help a bit.
