With the exception of my Thanksgiving score, my deals were decent but not spectacular.
This day’s special brought the most glee.
As already discussed, I’d planned on buying the 32 GB iPad for $249. It wasn’t as good of savings as the $279, 128 GB iPad Mini; but the latter was a doorbuster and I didn’t want to brave the lines.
Happily, I found that same deal on the Best Buy website on Thanksgiving morning. I checked out so fast it made my head spin, and the device should get here on Friday.
The purchase killed my fun money account, but it’s worth it if I can stop seeing my current iPad’s passive-aggressive “You can manage storage in your Settings” message.
Black Friday – Walgreens
I had my annual, oh-so-exciting toilet paper purchase. But the savings actually were pretty exciting.
I got six, 18-roll packs of toilet paper priced at $9 each. I used a 25% off coupon and a $5 reward for an end price of $38.98 after tax, plus cash back from Mr. Rebates.
That supply should last us four to six months. It would probably be a lot longer for most people, but remember that we’re both home all day and, thanks to living in the desert, I drink a ton of water.
All six packs fit nicely in the hall closet with room to spare, and I just saw that the 25% off coupon is still active on Walgreens.com. So I may actually pick up another set and stash any overflow (har har) in the guest room. Because we’re classy like that.
Black Friday – Target
We nixed the the previously planned, outrageously priced shower curtain because it no longer works with my now-slightly-expanded theme for the room.
Since we weren’t able to find one we like that also goes with the new theme, we defaulted to something that would match the room’s red/black color scheme. Specifically, I found a basic black curtain that was $11.99 on sale. Quite a relief to my frugal sensibilities.
I also had to get a new towel ring. The one I’d so nicely rehabbed got chipped when I used it on one of the stools’ stencils. Using the ring like that was a stupid move on my part, but I was just so focused on making a non-wobbly circle that I didn’t think about it. Luckily, I found a decent replacement for $8.
On Cyber Monday, I got Mom’s birthday gift, which is always Riviera pears from Harry & David. A box was $19.99 with free shipping (even to Alaska!) courtesy of ShopRunner. I also got $1.20 back through Mr. Rebates.
I also went back to Target.com and got a shower curtain liner ($1.79) and three black hand towels ($2.69 each).
That said, I’m not going to use (or even open) the hand towels until I’ve had a chance to check Ross and Burlington. I have a feeling I can find them more cheaply at one of those stores. Probably. Maybe.
Actually, I have no idea what hand towels cost, but I feel like I can do better than $2.69 each if I go to a discount store. If so, I can return the Target towels. If not, then I was smart to lock in the good deal.
Did you guys get any good deals? Anyone else stock up on toilet paper? Outside of dollar stores, what’s a good price for a hand towel?
