I’ve been following the leaked Black Friday ads over on BFads.net. I haven’t kept close tabs on every single store, but I think I have a pretty good feel overall for what I’m interested in. It’s admittedly pretty dull.
The bedroom TV needs replacing, and I found a 40″ Sharp smart TV at Best Buy that’ll be $149.99 on Thursday/Friday. As best I can tell, it’ll be an online deal as well as an in-store one. I certainly hope so because I’m terrified of stepping foot in a place like Best Buy during Thanksgiving/Black Friday deals.
Does the TV need to be a smart TV? No, but that’s the best deal I could find on a 40″ TV made by a brand name I recognize.
Does it need to be 40″? No, that’s honestly probably a little too big. But it’s that or a 32″ (or one that’s 53″ or bigger). I checked out a 32″ one, but I felt like it might be just barely too small. So apparently I’m going with a 40″ TV.
I already hit an early Black Friday sale at JCPenney for a king-sized comforter set. I thought I should actually get a comforter that fit. You know, like adults do. Except that I’m doing it three years after getting the bed.
It was a heinous $70, but as far as I can tell that’s actually a pretty good price for a comforter set that comes with a bunch of pretty pillows and like. There were cheaper, more basic covers for $50, but I like this one better. Since I’m going to have the thing for a long time, I figured I’d better get the one I preferred.
Bonus: I got 10% cash back through Mr. Rebates.
And in the vein of being a real adult, I decided to get some towels that match and don’t have holes. An alarming number of the towels in this house have holes in them and/or are starting to fray pretty badly. Others are fine, but it’s a jumble of colors and textures and… Well, it’d be nice if some things actually match around here.
I first looked at Kohl’s The Big One towels, which were just $2.99 a pop, but apparently those shed like crazy. So I’m going slightly more expensive to some textured, quick-dry towels. I know $5 a towel isn’t an amazing deal, but it’s pretty good, especially given the rave reviews on the JCPenney website. And once again I’ll get 10% cash back through Mr. Rebates. Now I just have to decide between a vivid red (which, hey, would match my comforter) or washed indigo (a pretty, subdued color that might be just a skosh too subdued). The jury is still out, but I have at least until Friday to decide.
I may keep my eye out for something for Mom. Normally, I combine her birthday and Christmas gifts because I get her pricey pears from Harry & David. But this year I got a really good deal ($26.99 plus 10% cash back through, you guessed it, Mr. Rebates). So if I see anything that screams her… Well, there’s some wiggle room in the budget.
Otherwise, my Black Friday list is admittedly pretty dull. Or at least pretty grown-up. Which often amounts to the same thing.
